May Day 2026 Day of Action (sponsored by the May Day Coalition and national Indivisible) is a one-day strike on May 1st to withhold our money and labor in support of the following objectives:
• Tax the rich.
• No ICE, no war.
• Hands off our Vote.
The goal is No Work, No School, and No Shopping (except at small locally owned businesses) and to join a visible Action for those who can do so.
ITSME is hosting three events at Town Halls in South Berwick and Old Orchard Beach and at Wells PD at noon, to bring visibility to threats to voting access as elections draw near. Please join us if you can! Also please support the economic boycott and withholding of labor for those who can do so.

Defending Democracy Through Peaceful Protest

We use the Indivisible Guide to organize and inform our activism. Peaceful protest has proven to be the most effective way to fight autocracy and reclaim the will of the people.

Strength in Solidarity

Our protests in Wells are organized in conjunction with Indivisible and other national organizations (MoveOn, ACLU, 50501) and local organizations like Activate Maine and Democratic town committees. Mobilize is the tool we use to register people for our standouts in Wells. Sign up for our mailing list to get alerts about upcoming events.

Grassroots Movement

Our members are ordinary citizens who are fed up with our government trampling our constitutional rights and using our tax dollars to violently oppress our neighbors. Group leaders are volunteers. There is no membership fee to join.

Inclusive Membership

We include people of all political affiliations who share our vision of responsible government and a just society. We especially welcome people of marginalized communities, our immigrant neighbors, LGBT+, and people of color.

Community Partnerships

We collaborate with like-minded organizations to amplify our efforts and reach. Our partners include immigrants rights groups, faith organizations, local political committees. We know that the more hands and voices, the better. You can find information about these groups on our Get Involved page.
